Alberta Open is the biggest water polo event hosted in Western Canada. After 2 years of interruption due to the pandemic, the event will resume this year March 17-20 in Calgary. Teams from 6 provinces are expected to participate and the level of competition will be outstanding.

WPS coaching staff has been evaluating all competitive provincial athletes since September through club visits, provincial training centres and all our provincial competitions (CL, PEL and Provincials).

Selecting 12 athletes per team is not an easy task, especially with the growing pool of athletes we have seen this last couple of years and with the high level of play we observed all year long. We know there will be disappointment for athletes not selected to these teams. WPS would like to remind athletes and parents that making selections for an event is like taking picture of athletes in the middle of a marathon race: the ranking is only accurate for this instant; nobody can say what it will be later.

Selected athletes will receive an information package about the event in the next day or two.
